Compassion Wednesday

I've had permission to host a "Compassion Sunday" event at my church, but as of tonight I finally have a date set up--Wednesday, April 22nd. The pastor's going to mention it at the next Session meeting, but it should be a "go". We're planning on showing a video during a Wednesday night fellowship dinner and having a sign-up table.

Heavenly Father, I give you this event. Please use the video and personal testimony to work in people's hearts to sponsor children, releasing them from poverty in your Son's name. Please take away any pride in my heart, any tendency to think that children were sponsored solely through my efforts. I am the vessel through which children find sponsors, but it's you that works in people's hearts.
